Turning one long video into a week of X posts

X rewards a sharp, standalone claim more than almost any other platform, which makes it a strong destination for repurposed video — as long as you resist the urge to compress the whole video into one caption.

Step 1: extract claims, not clips

Go through the transcript and pull out every sentence that could stand alone as a strong opinion, a specific number, or a punchy explanation. Ignore the connective tissue — the "so what I mean by that is" and "moving on to the next point" — none of it survives the cut to a single post.

Step 2: one claim, one post

• Each pulled sentence becomes its own post, tightened until it reads as a complete thought without needing the video for context.
• Cut hedging words — "I think," "kind of," "sort of." X rewards conviction even on small takes.
• If a section of the video needed several sentences to make its point, that's a thread, not one dense post.

A week of X posts from one video should read like a week of independent thoughts you happened to have, not a trailer for the video.

Step 3: build the week

1. Monday — the boldest single claim from the video, standalone. This sets the tone and usually pulls the most replies.
2. Tuesday — a thread version of the video's most detailed section, broken into numbered posts, one point per post.
3. Wednesday-Thursday — the sharp one-liners: a number, a comparison, a quick opinion.
4. Friday — a reply to your own Monday post adding the nuance or pushback you've gotten, or a genuine follow-up thought.
5. Weekend — something lighter, a behind-the-scenes detail or an observation from making the video that didn't make the final cut.

Link sparingly

Drop the video link on one or two posts across the week, on the ones where watching the full thing is a genuine next step — not on every post. X's algorithm has historically treated outbound links less favorably than native text, so let most of the week's posts stand entirely on their own.

The check before you post

Delete any sentence that isn't doing work. If what's left still makes the point on its own, without anyone having seen the video, it's ready. If it only makes sense as "part of the video I posted," pull a more specific detail and try again.
